I Love My Preacher

I'm so glad to be able to say, "I love my preacher!" I began loving him 28 years ago when we were dating. I loved him when he was a college student who worked in a gas station to support his wife and pay his tuition. I loved him when he was a beginning college teacher who painted houses to subsidize his teacher's pay. I loved him when he became a college dean and worked to help men realize their dreams of working full-time in the ministry. I loved him when, while teaching college, took on a 3rd shift job to pay my tuition so that I could finish my college degree. I love how he makes decisions not based on any reason accept desiring to please the Lord as best as he can. I loved watching him preach this morning. I love how when he preaches he doesn't worry about pleasing anybody but God. I loved watching him baptize a grown man this morning. I loved watching that man's elderly mother get out of her wheelchair, remove her oxygen hose from her nose, and step into the baptismal waters to be baptized by my husband this morning. I love how my husband was able to lead both mother and son to the Lord within days of each other. I love seeing my husband rise early to study the Bible and prepare messages. I love being married to a MAN who does not compromise his convictions.

Today I am a blessed woman who loves her preacher.

  1. Hi, Laurie
I love it that you love your preacher/husband. It's so good to hear about long-time married love! Re: your kids leaving home-your heart will go between aching to being swelled up with pride. Am reading a great book, The Power of Praying for Your Adult Children, by Stormie Omartian. It might help you thru your empty nest and beyond. I'm with you about the clothes at A&F and lack of modesty in general. Our daughters need to be pursued for their hearts and minds, not just their bodies. Elizabeth, Just Following Jesus, says she will launch her new MOM blog soon. I'm sure she'd love to have your in-put. Thanks for your visit. blessings on your day!
